The E Ride Pro SS lineup — SS 1.0, SS 2.0, SS 3.0, SR, and the Pro S variants — spans several years of hardware revisions. The key maintenance trap: two different brake fluid specs and two different drive belt widths exist across the model range, and using the wrong one causes real damage. This guide covers what you need to know for each model.
1. Drive Belt — Two Specs, Not Interchangeable
All E Ride Pro SS models use a belt drive — no chain, no chain lube. Belt maintenance is minimal under normal conditions, but when replacement is due, getting the right belt matters.
Type 1 Models: SS 1.0, SS 2.0, Pro S, Mini, Mini R
This is the standard E Ride Pro belt that fits the majority of the lineup. It is a specific OEM part — do not substitute a generic belt without confirming the tooth profile and width match exactly.
Type 2 Models: SS 3.0 and SR
OEM SS 3.0 Drive Belt (20mm) — $85.99
The SS 3.0 and SR use a wider 20mm belt. It is not interchangeable with the E7006. If you install the narrower belt, it will skip under high torque loads.
Belt service tips:
- Inspect monthly — look for cracks, fraying, or glazing on the contact surface
- Clean with a dry rag only — no solvents, no lubricants on the belt
- Replace the rear pulley when installing a new belt — worn pulley teeth accelerate new belt wear
- Torque the rear axle nut to spec after belt replacement — undertightening causes belt skip
2. Brake System — Fluid Spec Differs by Generation
This is the most critical maintenance distinction on the E Ride Pro platform:
- Type 1 (SS 1.0, SS 2.0, Pro S, Mini, Mini R): DOT 3 brake fluid — $8.99
- Type 2 (SS 3.0, SR): DOT 4 brake fluid — $8.99
DOT 3 and DOT 4 are technically compatible (both glycol-based), but using DOT 3 in a DOT 4 system means a lower boiling point — which matters under aggressive braking. More importantly, do not use mineral oil in any E Ride Pro model — the seals are DOT-compatible, not mineral oil-compatible.
Brake pads (all Type 1 models): Front kit $23.99 / Rear $23.99.
Brake lever set: $23.99.
3. Tires by Model
SS 3.0 and SR (19"/18")
- Front (19"): OEM 70/100-19 — $102.99
- Rear (18"): OEM 80/100-18 — $102.99
- Inner Tube Front 19": $25.99
- Inner Tube Rear 18": $23.99
Mini and Mini R (14"/12")
- Front 14": OEM — $45.99
4. Cockpit
- OEM Throttle: $97.99
- OEM Right Grip: $9.99
- ODI Emig Lock-On Grips (SS/SR): $42.99
- Wide Foot Pegs (OEM): $75.00
Maintenance Schedule
- Before every ride: Belt visual, tire pressure, brake lever feel
- Monthly: Belt inspection for cracking or glazing, pulley check
- Every 20 hours: Brake pad thickness, spoke tension, wheel bearing check
- Annually: Brake fluid flush (DOT 3 or DOT 4 per your model), belt replacement if needed
